College Football – Week 4

In random note form…

-I wish I had an explanation for BG losing at home to Kent State 38-3. I don’t. I’m more than a little disgruntled with the display put on by some fellow Falcon fans around the internets during the game, but in the end, there’s no defense for what happened at The Doyt today.

-It’s almost a shame that Mario Manningham has had such a ridiculous past two games that the outstanding job done by the Michigan defense is almost (but really, not quite by those that follow U-M much more closely) being overshadowed by #86.

-Bad News for Penn State: JoePa is struggling with a bout of the Hershey squirts. Good News for Penn State: They’re up 3-0 at the half in Columbus, and if the toilets back up, Joe doesn’t have to worry about getting his slacks wet.

-Did Gary Thorne really just utter the line, “Robert Lee on to kick the point after, one of *my* personal heroes.” Unless I missed a story that related directly to this particular kicker being a hero, look for Gary to be put on exclusive duty covering South Carolina.

10:42pm
-I hate Michigan State, but man has this game been fun.

-Penn State doesn’t deserve to win another game. Ever. That was pathetic.

-Since when is it every announcer’s duty to call out missed holding calls on every play? I don’t think I’ve heard “Man, they blew another holding call” come from announcer’s mouths this many times in years. Paul Maguire was the absolute worst about it.

  1. MSU… I mean… ummm… I… my… my God. The whole time I was saying “they’re going to find a way to blow this”, but had about a five-minute span early in the fourth when I thought they might actually hang on.

That freaking school. Every freaking time you want them to do something, they find a way to do the opposite.

John L. Smith is officially out of a job. That team is finishing 5-7 again… probably beating either Michigan or OSU, but pulling off an equally-improbable three-game losing streak at some point, too.
